Moscow. 14 May. Interfax - The unrest in Andijan was provoked by militants who infiltrated Uzbekistan from outside the country. This information was reported to Interfax by high-ranking sources in the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and was confirmed by sources in Russian power ministries.
"In recent days, a large number of militants secretly gathered at the point where the borders of Kirghizia, Uzbekistan, and Tadjikistan intersect - these [individuals] are bandits, radical Islamists, and Taliban who have infiltrated the area from Afghanistan. After regrouping, units of well-armed militants moved into Uzbekistan," diplomatic and military sources told Interfax.
