Slaughter in Andijan: merciless shooting of peaceful residentsIf Volosevich's report is true, then I am speechless. It is interesting that they were able to find among the wounded someone with the same last name as the president.

According to a telephone report from Ferghana.Ru correspondent A. Volosevich, who is located in the center of Andijan, the events of last night and this morning have turned into a cruel slaughter and the merciless shooting of peaceful residents, organized by Uzbekistan's security forces. Here we quote our correspondent and a local resident who was injured by government forces:
A. Volosevich: "We are located near the building of the "Chulpon" (formerly "Yubileinyi") movie theater. In the pile of bodies dumped on the asphalt near the theater, I counted thirty dead. These are civilians, not a single soldier or policeman among them. According to eyewitnesses, during yesterday's storm, when soldiers and special forces attacked the square in front of the local hokimiyat [administration] building, hundreds of unarmed, peaceful residents were shot by armored personnel carriers and infantry combat vehicles [BTR and BMP] as well as automatic weapons. First they were fired on from the military vehicles' machine guns, and then the soldiers who followed on foot mercilessly finished off the injured, including women and children."
Azim Karimov (local resident, wounded, shouting): "Yesterday I came here to look for my children! Soldiers were going down the streets and killing children, finishing off the wounded lying on the ground! Do they have mothers and children, these soldiers? What does our president think? Why do we need such a president, who gives orders to shoot at his own people?!
