A Ren-TV camera crew was arrested while approaching Andijan [translated by me; the same story can be found (also in Russian) here on Ren-TV's website] 17:17
Moscow, 14 May - RIA Novosti. A Ren-TV crew - correspondent Dmitrii Yasminov and cameraman Viktor Muzalevskii - were detained at one of the checkpoints around the city of Andijan, reported the TV station's press service.
Identity documents were taken from the journalists, who were driving to Andijan from Tashkent in order to film a segment about the unrest which is taking place in the southern portion of Uzbekistan.
"The people who arrested these journalists claim to be representatives of the local administration. They have no comment on their actions toward the journalists. They refer only to the pressurized situation in the region," according to a press-release issued by Ren-TV.
According to Marianna Maksimovskaya, the camera crew was supposed to provide coverage of the events in Andijan for tonight's edition of the program "The Week." [...]
"Currently there is no certainty on when the camera crew will be released, and there's even less certainty on whether they will allow journalists to work normally," the press-release quotes Maksimovskaya as saying.
A representative of the press-service told RIA Novosti over the telephone that the journalists had still not been released.
On Saturday, several other correspondents were arrested and then released in Andijan.
