Pretty much exactly the current boundaries! Well, except that some are international now.

When we lived in Armenia, we had a fantasy of driving back to Europe through Kalmykia. Theoretically possible, but we didn't do it. Not a drive to make with small kids.

Indeed, some are international and some are "international." My dream of circumnavigating the Black Sea has been deferred as well, even though much of it could be done without actually transiting unsafe areas (assuming travel by ferry on some legs); I figure we'll wait until our boy is big enough to appreciate it or to be seconded to his grandparents for a couple of weeks.
